Don't Let Jersey Down the Drain! Managing Water in Cities
Water management is a major issue across the state, and particularly in New Jersey’s urban areas where the infrastructure is fragmented and in need of upgrades. Water- and sewer-main breaks can result in everything from traffic backups to major public health issues.

Chris Sturm, state policy director for New Jersey Future, kicked off this session at NJ Spotlight On Cities with a detailed description of the subject, as well as some solutions that communities might consider. Then Damon Rich, a partner at Hector Design Service, talked about a project at the Newark Riverfront to connect Newarkers to the river, to make infrastructure an issue the public is engaged in. NJ Spotlight co-founder and energy and environment writer Tom Johnson moderated the session.
