The inaugural NJ Spotlight On Cities was held October 16, 2015 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. Our morning began with a keynote address from Toni Griffin, Director of the J. Max Bond Center on Design for a Just City, City College of New York. Griffin has been working for for decades to reshape the landscapes of cities across the nation, including Chicago, Detroit, Memphis, Washington D.C. and Newark. In her address, Griffin shared with the audience the questions that have been driving her professional and academic work in recent years. Among them: how can planners incorporate issues like equity, inclusion, belonging and access?
